OUR BEERS

IPA

7%70 IBUs | Ale

The character of stone-fruits, berries, tropical fruits and pine are all evident from the liberal use of North American hops. Firm and lasting bitterness on the finish satisfies, hides the alcohol and increases the beer’s drinkability.

Belgian Blond Ale

6%50 IBUs | Ale

Pilsner malt lends the light colour and subtle grainy malt character. The Belgian yeast blends with ample amounts of European hops for a floral and herbal flavour and aroma. The dryness and moderately firm bitterness make it refreshing and drinkable.

Vienna Lager

5%20 IBUs | Lager

A simple style that highlights smooth maltiness while finishing dry. Light toasty, bread crust-like malt character that comes through on the finish. Refreshing and crisp from the cool fermentation with lager yeast.

Doppelbock

7.5%20 IBUs | Lager

A rich and flavourful style with lots of pronounced aromas and flavours from toasted malted barley. Complex caramel and dark fruity flavours round out this delcious beer.

Hoppy Pale Ale

5% | 50 IBUs | Pale Ale

Generous dry hopping (featuring Simcoe & Motueka Hops) create a wonderfully bright citrus flavour & aroma. Combine that with a slightly thicker mouth feel and you have a flavourful and easy drinking crowd pleaser. Perfect for a sunny spring day.

Kentucky Common

5%20 IBUs | Ale

One of only a few beer styles that the America’s can claim as indigenous. Also known as “Dark Cream Ale” it was a popular regional style around Louisville Kentucky. Medium maltiness with caramel flavour and a slightly dry finish round out this ale making it a very enjoyable brew.

Saison Brett

6%30 IBUs | Ale

This classic farmhouse beer was aged for six months in local white wine barrels with four different strains of brettanomyces wild yeast. It features an extremely light body and spicy flavours with notes of fruit and a lovely white wine finish.

Japanese Lager

5%12 IBUs | Lager

Our first rice lager that’s crisp and refreshing with a light colour and body. It’s a very approachable and easy drinking beer with a delicious malt flavour and smooth finish.

Belgian Abbey Ale

6.5% | 25 IBUs | Ale

We’ve taken a Belgian-Style Abbey Ale and barrel aged it in local red wine barrels with Brettanomyces yeast. The result is a fascinating beer that features fruit flavours and a nice dry red wine finish. It’s not what you expect from a typical beer, but has a really delicate balance of flavour.

Czech Dark Lager

5% | 20 IBUs | Lager

Crisp and refreshing, this Czech-style beer features the herbal spicy character of saaz hops and flavours of coffee, cocoa and baker’s chocolate from the use of  dark roasted malts.

PREVIOUSLY ON TAP

Oktoberfest

6% | 20 IBUs | Lager

A German, malt-focused lager, this beer was traditionally brewed for the Fall (when brewed in the Spring it is known as a Marzen). Being a lager, it is refreshing and crisp and it is characterized by toasty, bread crust like malts that are allowed to shine through due to a low level of hop bitterness.

Italian Pilsner

5% | 40 IBUs | Lager

While the definition of an Italian Pilsner is a little bit slippery to grasp, the philosophy behind it seems very Italian. It’s a dry hopped pilsner with Czech Saaz & German Hallertau hops and it’s critical that the pilsner is very well balanced with a subtle body and that it’s delicately perfumed. If that sounds like a great beer, you’re right! It is!

Motueka Lager

5% | 30 IBUs | Lager

This light and refreshing lager is characterized by the tropical notes from New Zealand Motueka hops.

Belgian Tripel

9% | 50 IBUs | Strong Ale

One of the oldest styles traditionally brewed in Belgian monasteries. Monks would mark the barrels with 3 hatch marks to indicate a stronger brew. Caramel and lightly spicy character adds smoothness to this deceptively strong beer.

Witbier

5%10 IBUs | Ale

A Belgian-style wheat ale that is brewed with a high proportion of raw unmalted wheat, and also contains raw oats. It has low bitterness and a creamy, yet light mouthfeel from the raw grains. It has a light spiciness from the Belgian yeast, that is enhanced from the use of Indian coriander and a note of orange citrus from the use of a secret ingredient!

Brut IPA

7%70 IBUs | Ale

This champagne-like IPA is refreshingly dry, highly carbonated, and light in colour making it a fantastic summer patio beer. New Zealand Motueka hops lend a characteristically tropical twist.

Barrel Aged Baltic Porter

6.5% | 30 IBUs | Lager

It spent 4 months in a barrel from Wayward Distillery in Courtenay, that previously held rum and then coffee liqueur. Similar flavour notes as our baltic porter, but with ultra rich notes of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla from the barrel and spirits. This is the most limited release we have ever done, as we only have one barrel. Available at the brewery only in a 13 oz glass. No crowler/growler fills.

Ella Triple

7.5% | 50 IBUs | Ale

A traditional strong, pale Belgian-style beer originally brewed in European monasteries. This twist on the traditional style is brewed using Australian ella hops, giving it flavours of tropical fruit.

Salish Sea Baltic Porter

6.5% | 30 IBUs | Ale

Brewed in collaboration with East Van Brewing Company. Rich notes of dark fruits, dates, and currants, which accompany dark malts. Technically a lager, it’s fermented warmer than most lagers which enhances the fruitiness due to higher ester production in the yeast.

New Zealand Golden Strong

7% | 50 IBUs | Belgian Ale

A traditional Belgian Golden Strong with tropical notes from a generous amount of New Zealand Motueka hops. This beer is crisp and refreshing – perfect for summer days.

Nordic IPA

7%45 IBUs | Lager

Also referred to as a Nordic saison, or a Nordic farmhouse ale, as it’s brewed using a Norwegian farmhouse yeast known as a Kveik yeast. We’ve taken the IPA route for the name, as this beer is big and hoppy. The particular Kveik strain we used is known as the Loki strain, and produces huge fruity flavour that we’ve added tons of American and New Zealand hops to in order to accentuate the fruitiness.

Gin Bourbon Barrel Saison

6% | 30 IBUs | Ale

This beer is our saison that was aged for one month in barrels that previously held both bourbon and gin, and were sourced from Wayward Distillation House in Courtenay, and Sheringham Distillery here in Sooke. The complex botanicals of the gin pairs with the spiciness of the saison, while the bourbon adds further complexity.

Marzen

6% | 20 IBUs | Lager

A German, malt-focused lager, this beer was traditionally brewed for the Spring (when brewed in the Fall it is known as an Oktoberfest). Being a lager, it is refreshing and crisp and it is characterized by toasty, bread crust like malts that are allowed to shine through due to a low level of hop bitterness.

Galaxy Sour

5% | 50 IBUs | Sour Ale

Big tropical notes of pineapple and passionfruit from Aussie Galaxy hops. It’s crisp, refreshing and the perfect beer for a sunny patio.

Bohemian Pilsner

5% | 50 IBUs | Lager

Similar to the German pilsner this beer is characterized by the ingredients of Europe, in particular the distinct Czech saaz hops that give the beer a spicy and floral aroma and flavour. Unlike the German pilsner, its body is more full, it has a deeper colour, and the hops are balanced by the flavour of toasted malts.

Cherry Bruin

8.5% | 20 IBUs | Ale

Our Belgian style Abbey Ale was aged on an absurd amount of sour cherries. Complex, smooth, with a refreshing tart cherry finish.

Steam Beer aka California Common

5.5% | 35 IBUs | Lager

It’s a hybrid style unique to the United States. Brewed with a strain of lager yeast that works in warmer (ale-like) temperatures. A touch of malty flavours with a mild herbal hop bitterness makes this a very popular brew.

German Pilsner

5% | 40 IBUs | Lager

A European lager with a light body and firm bitterness. The spicy and floral flavour and aroma of European hops is complimented by bread-like notes from the German pilsner malt.

Saison

6%30 IBUs | Ale

A diverse style that can run the gamut from pale straw to black in colour. Saisons are generally distinguished by a spicy yeast character. A historical style from Belgium it was originally brewed in spring to be served to the farm workers during the fall harvest.

Belgian Tripel (Barrel Aged)

11%40 IBUs | Ale

A traditional Belgian style that was originally brewed in European monasteries. It has a light body and easy drinkability considering its higher alcohol content. The barrel aged version spent nine months in local red wine barrels with a secondary fermentation using brettanomyces wild yeast. The flavours of oak, wine and wild yeast goodness are pronounced in a smooth full flavoured experience.

Mango Saison

6%35 IBUs | Ale

A diverse style that can run the gamut from pale straw to black in colour. Saisons are generally distinguished by a spicy yeast character. A historical style from Belgium it was originally brewed in spring to be served to the farmworkers during the fall harvest. Infused with 300lbs of fresh mangos.

Barrel Aged Foreign Extra Stout

8.5%50 IBUs | Ale

This stout was traditionally brewed to a higher alcohol content to survive the sea voyage to the foreign market. Our version was aged for four months in Four Roses bourbon barrels adding complexity and smoothness to this deceptively strong beer.

Simcoe Brut IPA

7%70 IBUs | Ale

This champagne-like IPA is refreshingly dry, highly carbonated, and light in colour. Generously dry-hopped with Simcoe hops, this beer is bold and perfect for the hop-lover.

Small Saison

4%25 IBUs | Ale

Also known as a table saison. Tasting notes are similar to our regular saison (dry, spicy yeast character, etc.), but it is low alcohol and brewed with a significant amount of raw, unmalted oats and wheat to give the beer a creamy mouthfeel, while remaining light and drinkable.

Baltic Porter

7% | 30 IBUs | Lager

Rich notes of dark fruits, dates, and currants, which accompany dark malts. Technically a lager, it’s fermented warmer than most lagers which enhances the fruitiness due to higher ester production in the yeast.

Mai Bock

6%25 IBUs | Lager

A lager traditionally served in springtime, especially in the month of May, hence the name. It has a grainy/toasted malt character, balanced by the flavour and aroma of European noble hops.

West Coast Belgian IPA

7.5% | 60 IBUs | Ale

A fusion style combining the hops of North America with the yeast of Belgium. Hops that emphasise stone and tropical fruit character (as opposed to flavours like pine, dank, and citrus) are chosen to match the fruity esters that are produced by the Belgian yeast.

Double IPA 2.0

8.5%85 IBUs | Ale

Easy drinking even at 8.5% with full hop flavours and aromas. Idaho 7 and Galaxy hops bring bright tangerine and passion fruit notes to this smooth piney brew.
